3. Select “LD 1” and press “Enter”.
4. Select “RAID5” for the RAID mode. Change “Fast Init” to “ON”, this will allow the
controller card to initialize quicker.
5. Arrow down to the “Drive Assignments” section. This section will display all of the hard
drives that are connected to the controller card. In this section, you must change the Assignment
column from “N” to “Y” using the space bar to make a hard drive a member of the array.
Note: The screenshot below shows 4 drives connected to the controller card. The most common
DocSTAR configuration will contain 6 drives. In a 6 drive configuration, it is suggested that 5 of
the 6 drives be members of the array and the remaining drive be a hot spare. To configure the
array with a hot spare, change the assignment to “Y” on drives 1 thru 5, and then leave the
assignment for drive 6 set to “N”. This configuration will give you a RAID5 array with 5 drives
actively in the array and 1 hot spare.
